Keeper of the Jatobá

Iara

Servicios

“A letter from Aldric... so the Vale still stands. Welcome to Jataíra, stranger. I'm Iara; I keep the Jatobá-King and the bees that live in it. Since the temple bells began tolling by themselves, the honey darkens, the marsh rises and the caravans don't come back.”
“The marsh creeps a hand's width every night. The fishermen hear a bell ringing under the water. Go to the Drowned Marsh and bring me whatever you find.”
“The Jatobá-King was already old when the first drover stopped here. The town grew around it, not the other way around. While it stands, so does Jataíra.”
“Jataí honey dries into amber, and amber keeps the light. That's why the Echo avoids our homes. It's also why your Vale is called Amber.”
“Aldric and I fought over a boundary fence twenty years ago. He won, I was right. Tell him I still keep the letter.”

“Silence... and the jataí bees are humming again. You gave Jataíra back its honey. But the last bell tolled north before it fell. The Echo has a heart, and it beats up there, in the mountains.”
“The rusted legion has fallen. Only the bells remain. Luzia spent the night awake over the temple psalms; she knows more than she says.”
“The dunes breathe again. I heard the first carts reaching the market. Jataíra remembers how to laugh. Zefa wants to talk to you about the fortress.”
“A bronze clapper with the seal of the Seven Bells, drowned in the marsh... Someone carried the tolling there on purpose. First, though, the Sultan: while Kharesh holds the dunes, no one reaches the temple.”
“The Seven Bells were made to call the rain in the dry season. Someone tuned them to call something else.”
“The scouts speak of a dark-stone citadel beyond the peaks: Goiânthar. If anyone knows where the Echo is born, it's them.”
