Abyssal Items
How to turn a rare into an Abyssal Item at the Abyssal Forge, what it gains and how each piece looks.
Abyssal Items are rares that went through the Abyssal Forge and gained the power and the look of the Abyssal Rift: green name, frame and icon, with green lava cracks running across the piece, even in the hero's hand. They never drop: the only way to get one is to craft it.
Where to make one
At the Abyssal Forge of Dravo, in Hell, and Dorin, in Amber Vale, on the Forge an abyssal item tab. The forge's other tab makes the abyssal runes.
What the item gains
- It keeps everything it already had: affixes, quality, sockets and runes.
- A fixed abyssal implicit based on the slot, stronger the higher the item level (tables below).
- One extra abyssal socket, beyond the piece's limit, that only takes an abyssal rune.
Where to get the materials
- Maw's Heart: only the Abyssal Maw drops it, always one for each player. It waits in the Abyssal Depths, the portal that sometimes appears at the end of an Abyssal Rift in Maps.
- Abyssal Ingot: Abyssal Ore from the veins that appear along the Rifts, smelted at the Forge's Smelter.
How to make an Abyssal Item

- Pick a rare item, equipped or in your bag: a weapon, a socketed off-hand or one of the five armor pieces.
- Pay the cost below. The forge never fails and the item keeps everything it already had.
- The item gains the abyssal implicit, one extra abyssal socket and the green look of the Abyss.

Abyssal Items never drop and never show up in shops or Vigil offerings: the only way to get one is to craft it.
