First steps
Creating your character, the controls and what to do in the first hours.
1. Create your hero
In the menu, Solo opens character selection. Pick one of the eight classes (all of them are unlocked from the start) and give your character a name. If in doubt, the Warrior is sturdy and balanced, the ideal choice for newcomers.
After the prologue, you arrive in Amber Vale, the Act 1 town.
2. Talk to the village
- Captain Aldric gives the first campaign quest.
- Mira sells weapons, Gunnar armor and Elara artifacts and healing.
- Thorin runs the Forge and Tessa the Bench (see Crafting).
- Lyra handles the passive tree, specializations and the Trials.
- Lyra's training dummies let you test your skills' damage.
NPCs with ! have a new quest; with ★, a quest ready to turn in. The journal is on the J key.
3. Head out to Willow Road
The first area is Willow Road. Attack with the left button, use the skills on your bar and dodge the marks on the ground with Space. Remember:
- B opens the Town Portal, which leads back to the same spot.
- The Regeneration Stones (1 and 2 keys) restore Life and Mana over a few seconds and refill in town.
- Waypoint stones unlock fast travel.
4. Level up and build your character
Each level: 2 attribute points (C), 1 passive tree point (V) and 1 Skill Tree point (K). Start with the main skill of the path you want to follow. Your class page shows the three paths.
Better gear drops all the time: I opens the inventory, Shift compares with what you are wearing and L opens the in-game Item Compendium.
